Bellagio (Lake Como)

We LOVED Bellagio! This small lakefront community is one of the many small villages that are nestled at the bottom of steep hillsides right on the chores of Lake Como. Bellagio is the jewel. This is the inspiration for the multi-billion dollar resort in Las Vegas, alive with purple wysteria, luxury boutique shops, waterside cafes, and charming discoveries in the higher streets and paths above the city.

We were told that one of the best ways to beat jet-lag when folks from the US fly into Milan, is to get out of the teaming metropolitan of Milan, and catch a 1-hr train to Lake Como. So we talked to our Airbnb host who shared with us that the best way to get from the Milan Centrale train station to Bellagio, is to head straight to Varenna-Esino and then catch a 10-minute tiny ferry over to Bellagio.

Why We Chose Bellagio

Coming from the West coast of the US makes for a brutal 9 hour jet lag. We decided that we wanted to have a few “down” days – but we wanted to have the authentic Italian experience. Bellagio delivered – sparkling water, friendly people, gorgeous vistas, snow-capped Alps, and impeccable Italian cuisine.
